WHPK University of Chicago Pictures and Sounds
02/15/2014 | 5811 S. Ellis Ave., Cobb 306, Chicago, Illinois
I will be performing a live sound accompaniment to my 30-minute video piece entitled The War of the Ghosts (previously shown in a triptych installation format at the Lapsus Undone show at Lake Forest College) on February 14th. The performance is part of the excellent WHPK Pictures and Sounds series at the U of C Film Studies Center. The event also includes Jason Lescalleet, Coppice, MT Coast, and Michael Una. Should be a great!
Here is the full text description of The War of the Ghosts:
Here are some stills from The War of the Ghosts:
Jason Lescalleet will also be showing a video I created for his track The Power of Pussy from the excellent Songs About Nothing (Erstwhile 2012) release. It was created by filming a single continuous shot from the back of a moving vehicle in a vast, empty Chicago parking lot. Here is a still (below):
Annie Feldmeier Adams, an excellent local video artist, will also be showing work for one of Lescaleet’s tracks.

Karren on Best of 2013 lists: Artforum, Pitchfork, The Wire, and more…
I feel very honored that the Karren LP (Sedimental) has been included on several “Best music of 2013″ lists, including Artforum, Pitchfork (Guest list via Julia Holter), Pitchfork (Out Door via Marc Masters), and The Wire (Julian Cowley’s pick). Additional lists include blogs and sites by notable writers and artists Brian Olewnick, Jesse Goin, Mike Shiflet, Jon Abbey, and Patrick Farmer. What a lovely surprise
